Recently, Destiny Tao, which focuses on Chinese Feng Shui culture, officially launched the "Feng Shui Craft Inheritance Program", aiming to safeguard endangered Feng Shui handcrafts and integrate millennia-old techniques with modern aesthetic. The first batch of three intangible heritage artisans all have over 30 years of experience: Artisan Wang, a silver craftsman, is good at engraving Feng Shui silver ornaments, and his traditional patterns like "Bagua Pattern" and "Cloud Pattern" have won national craft awards; Artisan Li, a crystal carver, focuses on shaping Feng Shui crystals and can design shapes that fit the "energy-gathering" principle according to the natural texture of crystals; Artisan Zhang, a hand-painter, is proficient in hand-painting Feng Shui auspicious patterns and has participated in the pattern design of the Feng Shui series of the Palace Museum cultural and creative products.
The program will advance through three modules: "mentor-apprentice training", "craft R&D" and "co-creation of works". Every month, artisans will hold 2 offline training sessions for Destiny Tao's design team, sharing experience from the interpretation of Feng Shui pattern meanings to the use of hand tools without reservation; the two parties will also jointly develop new products suitable for modern aesthetics, such as combining the traditional "longevity lock" shape with the Feng Shui "wealth-attracting" meaning to launch silver pendants suitable for young people; in addition, the program will launch an "Artisan Limited Edition" series, with each piece marked with the artisan's name and craft story, and a signed craft card inside the package, allowing consumers to not only buy products but also feel the cultural warmth behind the handcraft.
Destiny Tao's Craft Director said: "The energy of Feng Shui items comes not only from cultural symbolism but also from every step of handcrafting - the strength of silver engraving and the curvature of crystal polishing directly affect the transmission of Feng Shui energy. We hope that through this program, millennia-old crafts will not be replaced by industrial production, and more people will understand the ingenuity and cultural connotation behind Feng Shui crafts." It is reported that the program will subsequently recruit more intangible heritage artisans nationwide and gradually establish a Feng Shui craft inheritance database to record craft details and artisan stories.
